Canadian flooring manufacturer Lauzon offers its Pure Genius line of hardwood flooring that not only does not contribute to indoor air quality degredation, but according to the company, actually helps purify the air. As with all of the company’s flooring products, it is manufactured without solvents VOCs or formaldehyde. However, Pure Genius flooring has a light-activated, air-purifying agent made of titanium dioxide, which is integrated into Lauzon’s Titanium floor finish.
Pure Genius works constantly, without any loss of performance over time for as long as the finish lasts, reports the company. It improves indoor air quality up to 85 percent without compromising quality and appearance. The titanium dioxide in it is activated by either natural or artificial light, setting the air-purifying agent in motion. The air circulation generated by movement through a room or a fan is all that’s needed for toxic contaminants in the air to make contact with the active Pure Genius nanoparticles. The particles, according to the manufacturer, decompose toxic contaminants in the air (formaldehyde and other pollutants) and convert them into harmless water and carbon dioxide molecules.
